Mexican slingshot

I stayed in a small town of Mexico for 2 years, where slingshot was poular. Michoacán winters were sort of cold, but that never stopped us from tromping the corn stubble and plowed fields surrounding town with a slingshot. We were on Arctic adventures and small game hunting with mexican style slingshot. Howling wolf could have been just beyond the horizon. But Mexican wool rabbits were closer, and we pursued them doggedly.
The slingshots in Mexico were very primitive, a Y-shape fork with a bycle innner tube attached to the uprights. Your dominant hand grasps the pouch and draws it back to the desired extent to provide power for the projectile. The Mexican slingshot's mechanism has no difference from the traditional slingshots in other countries. Mexican slingshot 1 Mexican slingshot 2
What we hunted is a kind of North America’s big hares. These big bunnies were either ignored by hunters or cussed by farmers who sometimes suffer locust-like swarms of the voracious lagomorphs. You could hunt a few without any licence. Farmers and local residents were happy to see you do that. To energetic boys in love with outdoor adventure, Mexican wool hare were big game and, besides pheasant hunting, about the only game in town. Even though the Mexican slingshot is primitive, but as very elastic bicycle valve inside tube was used as the band, the slingshot is powerful. The hares kept jumping as long as we kept trudging. Mile after mile, we tried hitting them with slingshots from a variety of distance. It was a great way to learn how to hit small game on the run, though we missed much more than we hunted.
The wool hares only live in some states of Mexico. When the snow lies deep, they stand out, often clustering around isolated clumps of trees or earth mound. They are still exciting, hard-to-hit small game of slingshots and, properly prepared, quite delectable. I remember 5 buddies including me, everyone with a Mexican slingshot, surrounded 4 hares and opened the 'fire' at the same time. Finally we got only one, 4 were escaped. We had really exciting and happy days. Hasenpfeffer is a popular dish in local town...
Now I still have 4 Mexico slingshots which kept in my closet. What I use most is Golden Crowns Slingshot .
That's my favorite and you can think it's a new Mexico style slingshot.
