The history of slingshot development
In the past twenties years, Slingshot in China has been fully developed. It' has been a must-skill like the kungfu for the soldiers. It's an unmatched tool for their Wilderness Survival. Please read through the following words for how and where the danking slingshot comes from.
Twenties years ago,two kinds of Slingshots existed in 1980's. One is made from steel wire of 4-mm diameter with small ring rubberband tied.The available range was 10-15 meters. rock stone was taken as the ammo. Another is the wooden fork slingshot,surgical band was used which is a little more powerful. People could hit 20meter targets with it.

In 1990's ,with the quick developement of ecconomic, tremendous numbers of oversea-brand slingshots came in and occupied the market with some local imitations. They featured with very big single tube, bulk size,and many of them had the wrist brace and stabilizer and even laser collimator. The vendors tried to make the 'ultimate' slingshot because they thought it's powerful.
Slingshots in 1990s

They had good stability and easy to shoot. With more and more people enjoyed the slingshot shot, the disadvanges of 'ultimate slingshot' emerged. To increase the power,the bigger tube were introduced. But shooter found the unexpected result, bigger force didn't increase the velocity and it became more difficult to control the ammo. Bulk size made it unconvenient(sometimes boring) to carry in the pocket. Relacement of rubber set cost much time and money.
More powerful, easier to carry, and cheaper slingshot was developed by the skillful shooters who could not settle for the 'ultimate slingshot' which in fact have too many flaws . Some findings of slingshot were discovered after many tests.
1: Multiple-strand small thin tubing has better performance than the single big tubing.
2: There is the upper limit force for a centain steel ball to reach the biggest initial velocity, Increase the force beyond the upper-limit force dosen't increase the velocity obviously.
3: Instead of holding the slingshot hard and stiffly at the moment of release, Do as described at the following section increases the range and power dramatically,which is 'flip shooting style' in slingshot jargon .
Do as followed to make the ammo fly more straight: The hand that grips the slingshot move forward following the direction in which the ammo is flying forward at the moment of releasing the pouch. How to do it? Please refer to: How to shoot with dankung slingshot
4: To get good performance, you must research and adopt the special formula to make rubber tube&band for slingshot. Those rubber tube&band for other purchase such as surgical, glove,physical exersice dosen't work well for slingshot.

5: Tapered tubing&band increases the performance and power.
6: Multiple-strand small thin tubing has much longer life than the tapered thin flat band.


Based on these findings, an new traditonal slingshot was made 1: 8mm-diameter steel stick is introduced to make the slingshot 2: various rubber tube&band made with the new formula. 2: Abandon the wrist brace for the flexible wrist movement when releasing the pouch. 3: 8-strands ruber set is introduced. It take 17kg pull force to pull from 13cm to 75cm. With these improvements, slingshot became quite small , more powerful, more pracital and fun for shoot.

The maximum range reaches 300 meters(shoot towards the sky), and the practical range is about 70 meters(Be able to hunt the hare 70-meter away). Given the Internet and developed logistics system , the new tradition slingshot got popular very soon. Many 'ultimate' slingshots vanished in the maket...
